  • Applying B2 tourist visa for my mom. Using Dropbox Interview Waiver for 80+

I filed DS-160 a couple of days ago for my mom and I was able to book Dropbox appointment for the coming week- while I was expecting a wait for a few months. This was a pleasant surprise!

My mom has a little complex case since she previously had a Green Card, which she had to abandon due to dad's health. My question to the forum is, since there is complexity in her case and my situation, should I include a cover letter in the DropBox package with little more adhoc and candid information? I want to avoid an RFE or denial due to lack of information.

You cannot include any cover letter for Dropbox, Better to have them appear for in-person visa interview & try to prove that even they had permanent residency, this time they only want to visit USA for some reason & would surely return.

Instead of abandoning GC, you should have opted to legally surrender it (closing the file) showing you changed your mind to live in USA. That gives a positive sign that you really do not want to stay (trying COS after entering in USA), rather just want to visit for some time.

I just re-read the confirmation page and found this: You can also provide any documents you think may help with your case.

When you visit the OFC/VAC center, they won't accept any such cover letter. But you can give it a try.

you are correct. i prepared a packet with extra docs and cover letter which the person at counter refused to accept and asked me to email at the address written outside her window. She explained it was normal process to submit additional docs by emailing via registered email. This way the documents automatically get attached to the case. I did exactly that on my return to home and so far have not been successful. My email is not bouncing but i get automated reply making me believe that i should not email to this address directly. wth

So, what needs to be done? I'm in a similar situation.
