Time to return passport in Canada after interview

Hi all,
I have an interview for my visitor visa set in the US embassy in Ottawa, but I have a flight planned about 6-7 weeks after that (to Japan) where I will obviously need my passport.
So I'm wondering if anyone could share their experience of how long it took them to get their passport back after the interview? Since I guess processing times might vary from country to country I'm mostly interested in Canadian experiences. Do you think it is safe to do the interview or should I reschedule to be on the safe side?

In general and majority case , passports are returned within 10 business day after the date of interview assuming you are approved. My experience has been at Vancouver / Toronto. i think 6-7 weeks is pretty fair enough time with regular business now post holiday. US embassy standard SLA time to issue visa is 10 business day + 4 business day for passport delivery of courier (on website they say it can take 10 business day for delivery ) . I think you are good
