Visitor Visa question

My mother-in-law is planning to visit us this summer. Since my father-in-law didn't have his Passport yet, we got the appointment scheduled only for my mother-in-law. Is there drawbacks if only my mother-in-law is attending the interview?

The reason for my FIL not travelling would be he got business to run and take care of younger daughters. Would that be fine?
