Parents tourist visa

I had applied for H1B extension 4 months back but still didnt receive any reply. I have already applied for my parents tourist visa, paid the fees in March this year but they couldnt get interview appointment dates that time. I can see lots of interview dates now. Can they go for interview now evenif my visa extension is under process??
