UK Graduate Visa

From what I understand, you can get a Graduate Visa for either 2 or 3 years, depending on the previous program completed. But I wonder if it's possible to get the Visa for less than 2 years? I want to stay past what my student visa will allow, but I don't want to stay another full 2 years.
Any thoughts?
