Transit visa for India airport?

I'm a UK citizen and I'll be passing through Cochin airport (COK) in a few days for a connecting flight. I'll only be there for 6 hours, and I won't be leaving terminal 3 as both flights are international. However, although on the same booking, my two flights are with different airlines and have different PNR numbers.

As I understand, I don't need a visa provided I stay within the visa-free zone, but I'm not familiar with this particular airport.

Will I need a visa for this? Will I need to clear immigration if staying in the same terminal? If anybody is familiar with the airport I'd appreciate the help!
