B2 Visa documents

Is it a good idea to present documents as the question is asked or wait for them to ask and only then show? For example when they ask Why are you going? Is it a good idea to present the Affidavit of Support by saying I am going to meet my daughter and here is the doc

What is the best answer to Why are you going to USA? when it is for tourism and for meeting daughter.
