  • Visa requirement for connection flight

Hello everyone. Here is the situation. I'm a Mexican citizen who recently become a Canadian permanent resident on February 2023 (I received my PR card already). I'm also a B1/B2 Visa holder (I obtained this before I became a Canadian resident and it's still valid until 2029). I have a flight from Tokyo to Vancouver on November 22 but it has a connection on Seattle https://omegle.onl/ vshare (5 hrs).

So the question is, Do I need any other document apart from my American visa card to take that flight? I read something about a permit called ESTA but it's not clear for me if I need it even if I have a B1/B2 visa.

    Thanks

Congratulations on becoming a Canadian permanent resident! In your situation, as a Mexican citizen with a valid B1/B2 2048 Visa for the United States, you typically do not need an ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) to transit through a U.S. airport, like Seattle, as long as you are not planning to leave the international transit area of the airport.

This is wrong. US airports have no "international transit area". Everyone transiting the US must enter the US, and there is no distinction between waiting areas for international and domestic flights (anyone waiting for a flight can always leave the airport without going through any further checks

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

Your B1/B2 visa is enough to transit. ESTA is only for people visiting or transiting the US on the Visa Waiver Program, but Mexico is not part of the Visa Waiver Program, so you can't use it anyway.
