Visitor Visa Duration of Stay

My sister will be visiting me and I have booked her tickets for 5 months. I have the return ticket booked.
I did that after learning that a stay of 6 months is allowed. However, someone told me that it is in the hands of the immigration officer to decide the stay.

Will it be fine for my sister to mention it to the immigration officer about her return ticket - (so that she is granted the required duration of stay) ?

She can tell the officer how long stay she wants and show the return ticket accordingly. It is up to the officer how long stay to give.
