My boyfriend wants to enter the U.S. on a J-1 visa. I'm a green card holder. The company I work for is sponsoring J-1 visa holders, and we can use my BF's assistance at the company. Would this be considered visa fraud, since he is my BF? The program staff who processes the J-1 paperwork has confirmed his eligibility for the program, based on his resume and qualifications. We lack specialized workers in the area where I work. Since he will be living with me, however, I am afraid this might be conceived as a fraud. We want to make sure to do it the right way, and present our scenario as transparent as possible to avoid confusion. The J-1 visa will be used for the purpose of work-based activities in a cultural context, not to pursue a life together with me in the U.S., regardless of our romance. He is a Canadian citizen, for which reason he would not need to present himself at the embassy beforehand. Thanks for your insight.
