I'm planning on visiting the US in September, and after Googling UK to US visa, I applied for a visa using a DS-160 and set up an appointment ~$185 and have to wait until August to have an interview. I thought this was quite a lot, but I just assumed it was the US being difficult about their borders and when I told someone about this, they told me about ESTA visas, which seems a lot more like what I actually need as I am staying for less than 3 weeks.
I would have hoped that when I input my travel dates it would have recommended the cheaper option, but I guess I was just being a bit careless. Now that I have spent that money, is there any way to contact them and explain the confusion and get some sort of refund and apply for the correct visa? I'm not hopeful that this will be possible, but if anyone knows about this it would be really helpful https://19216811.cam/ https://1921681001.id/.
