  • How to Calculate time spent in US

    Hello,

I have a question which I have not been able to find the answer to online..I have a b2 visitor visa with multiple entries which expires in 2019. I went to the US on September 28th 2010 and left November 9th (2010). So I was only there for 6 weeks this time. I know that I can stay in the US for 6 months every year with this visa. But do these 6 months have to be in a row? At my entry in September, I got a stamp in my passport which says Mar 27 2011. Does this mean that I can only stay in the US until March 27th? I don't know if I'm making sense..But I only stayed for 6 weeks this time. Am I not allowed to enter the US and stay there for maybe a month in May, or some other date after March 27? I would not be in the US for more than 6 month in total for this year..

I'm sorry, but I just realized that I have another question as well. When I left the US on November 9th, I did not remember returning the I-94 form. I have looked this up on your web-page and I can see that I could mail it to an adress in kentucky.
What I wonder about this however, is if I'm still supposed to return it if I will be back in the US before March 27? I have read somewhere that if you will travel somewhere in between and then back to the US, you should hold on to the I-94.
I have not yet decided when I will go back to the US, I guess it depends a lot on what your answer will be on my previous question. Anyway, I want to see the options I have.. So if I will get back to the US in March for example, do I still need to mail the I-94 to Kentucky now?

    Thanks

You must return your I-94 upon every exit (there are some exceptions such as shortly traveling to Canada etc.)
