I will be going to the US to do a course at the University of Chicago. I won't be formally enrolling at the institution, but the visa that I need still appears to be the Exchange visitor J one.
I need to provide a SEVIS ID and program number, but I obviously won't have these as I won't be enrolled. The purpose of my visit is to attend a one-week long workshop relevant to my PhD in Europe VidMate.
What would be my best course of action? Is this the right type of visa I need or would a tourist one suffice?
