Passport return timelines - US visa application from Japan

Hello all,

Was thinking of applying for my US B1/ B2 visa through Tokyo or Kyoto since I would in Japan for 10 days in late October.

Does anyone know the time taken for the passport to be returned in case the visa is approved?

Asking as dont want to overstay or undertake any risks in case it takes more than 4 days or so...
