  • Student visa for New Zealand with partner and a kid.

    HI,

I just want to get other people's opinion.

I'm a 31 y.o Japanese national who grew up in the Philippines so my education credentials are all from PH.

I graduated BS Tourism Management and the uni I graduated in is recognized by NZ ( i checked).

But after graduation, I went back to Japan and did not really pursue a career on Tourism.

I mostly did odd jobs and labor works but I did not work for the past 3 years as I had personal problems.

Now, I am trying to get a Bachelors Degree in IT in NZ

You think my previous degree or situation will affect my student visa getting approved?

Your previous degree and situation may not necessarily affect your New Zealand student visa approval if you can demonstrate a genuine interest in pursuing the new IT degree. Immigration New Zealand typically evaluates your intent to study, financial stability, and personal circumstances, so be prepared to explain any gaps in employment and how your chosen field of study aligns with your career goals. Providing strong evidence of support, including your partner and child’s living arrangements, can also strengthen your application. Consulting an immigration advisor may be helpful.
