ESTA approved then disapproved

I’m an Australian looking to travel to America for tourism and I applied for an ESTA and it got approved within 2 hours. The day of the flight it got its status changed to ‘not approved’. Is it because the ticket was a one way? Because I was going to get a one way back to Australia, it was just a cheaper option to get a one way there first. 10.0.0.0.1 192.168.1.254

Since I did not attend my flight, if I reapplied for an ESTA again and got a return flight this time would my new ESTA application be approved?
