Question about visitor's visa

My parents' visitor visa is expiring in Aug-2011. It was filed in Sep-2001. They want to come here in Jun-2011 for 6 months. Obviously that will not be allowed because visa expires in August.

Will I have to re-apply for visitor's visa or can the current one be extended. If I have to file for a new one, can I file one now when the existing one is still valid?

Actually, they can use existing visa.

New visa is not needed.
