Hi! I’m a UK citizen looking to act in an amateur theatre production in Chicago this summer for which I will not be compensated. Can I do this on an ESTA, or will I need a B1/2 Visa? Thanks in advance https://19216801.onl/ https://routerlogin.uno/

ESTA or Visa for Amateur Theatre?

Hello,
The ESTA is intended for short-term visits for tourism, business, or transit purposes and is typically not suitable for those looking to engage in professional or paid work, even if it is unpaid. While acting in an amateur theatre production might not be considered "paid employment," it can still be viewed as work, particularly if it involves performing, rehearsing, or participating in events in exchange for compensation like travel or accommodation (even if no monetary payment is involved). The B1/B2 visa, which covers business and tourism visits, would allow you to enter the U.S. for the purposes of attending an amateur theatre production and performing, as long as no compensation is received.
Best Regard,
Kerolina
