  • Mistake in DS-160. Can I submit a new one?

I have submitted a DS160 for an F1 Visa with some mistakes, and have paid the visa MRV fee ($180). But I haven’t scheduled my appointment yet.

Should I fill out a new DS-160 and create a new visa application under the same Visa profile (ustraveldocs) using the new DS-160 number ? Will I need to pay the fee again? As far as I know, the visa fee is linked to the profile, not to a specific application https://100001.onl/https://1921681254.mx/ .

To fix it, fill out a new DS-160 with the correct information. If it's been less than 30 days since your original submission, you can log into the CEAC system, retrieve your previous application, and create a new one. This will save time by auto-filling most of the fields. Once you've made the corrections, submit the new form and get a fresh confirmation page with a new barcode.

Next, update your visa profile on the U.S. Visa Information and Appointment Services site with the new DS-160 confirmation number. This ensures your appointment is tied to the right application. And Yes! You won’t need to repay the MRV fee unless you’ve already scheduled your appointment.

Do not forget to take the old and new DS-160 confirmation pages to show the consular officer the changes you made. This transparency will help avoid any confusion.

I pulled this piece of information from skiplegal.ai that I normally use for all my immigration queries!
