Is old passport required for Visitor Visa Interview

My friend lost his old expired and cancelled passport. He is now applying for B2 visa to visit US. His current passport is good for another 2 years. My question is does the VO really ask for old passport while interviewing candidates for B2 (tourist) Visa. Please reply as ASAP with ur experiences or if any one had the same situation.Thank you

Lost old passport

Hi i will be applying for an exchange visitor visa from india for the USA and i cannot find my old passports. Is it absolutely necessary to have the old passports for the visa application or interview? I have a passport which is new and available
