lastname problem in MRV receipts and DS 160

My parents want to come US on my graduation ceremony and they are applying for visitor visa.My father doesn't have a LastName on the passport and given name is written as ABC Kumar. So, while filling the form DS 160, he is getting difficulity in going to next step. He is thinking of changing his name on the passport and making KUMAR as LastName.

It can be done easily but the problem is that he has already bought USA MRV hdfc bank receipts. And on those receipts, the lastname is not mentioned.

So what should he do now??please advice me.

If entire name is indicated in the Given Name Column, when filling out DS160 ,write the given name in Surname Column and Write FNU ( First Name Unknown) for Given Name.
The reason is that the Surname is mandatory for US Visa Application.

It does not matter with the MRV fee receipt have they have captured other details like Passport No. etc.
