How much money is enough?

Hi all,
I am planning to visit my husband for 6 months..
Now i have this question how much money i need to have with me as i am sponsoring this trip my self, going there on my own.. so how much money i enough any round figure please. are about 3,000$ would be enough or i need more but then how much i need to show consulate?? please let me know..
and will it make a differnce if i do not show my husbands bank balance(since he does not have a goood bank balance)
and is there anything needed from my husband side since i am going there on my own behalf.. please let me know
