How much funds required for visitor visa

Hi,

I am first time Inviting my parents to USA (on visitor visa) from India, I will be taking care of their expenses of USA visit.
My question is How much funds do I have to show in bank account?
(long back back I heard $5000 per parent would be sufficient.)

I am going for L1 stamping with my wife for her L2 stamping also.
I am planning to do stamping for me, wife and my mom, dad.
My parents have property in India, but they don't have funds in their bank a/c in India.
Would $15K sufficient in my USA bank a/c? or do I have keep more funds?

I do have a similar case have around 20k in bank acc and planning to sponsor parents they have enough savings n property in India but their salary is low.
Any suggestions and help is appreciated
