  • Application preparation by another person for visitor

In the form DS-156, I am filling up the form by typing and then taking a print out and sending it to my in-law as she is not comfortable in English, then in the point 39. there is a question as follows:
    "
Was this Application Prepared by Another Person on Your Behalf?
(If answer is YES, then have that person complete item 40.)"

should i mention yes or no because i have booked my in-law's interview in regional language and not english.
    Please reply

Irrespective of the language in which one chooses the interview, the form must be completed only in English. There is no rule tht says only the applicant needs to fill in the form. But yes, whoever fills out the form on their behalf, needs to fill in the item 40 of the form, which is nuthin but u sayin tht the info u filled in is true and correct to ur knowledge. U sign, give ur name and ur address...thts it. This will have no impact as such on ur MIL's visa interview.

I donot know if u r aware, but u can submit ur forms ahead of ur interview, through the e-form facility. This will help the consulate/interpreter in easy processing of ur MIL's application.

If it is the chennai consulate she is appearing in...then...the following is the link on the e-forms. Just notice tht this facility does not give u an option to sign in the ITEM 40. It is perfectly okay to send in the form without signing. Ur info as in ur name and address I guess are all u need to type in. Once the form is thru, u will have a conformation barcode n no.....which ur MIL needs to carry a prinout of..along with a copy of the submitted form. She does/must need to sign on the copy of the form though.

Read the information u put in twice, before u click the send button. U just fill the e-form all over again and resend it, and use that conformation no instead - IF U'VE MADE AN ERROR WHILE SENDING IT EARLIER.

Donot use the MOZILLA FIREFOX browser It somehow likes to fill in wht it likes...and not wht we want to type in on certain yes n no points )

    BEST OF LUCK *~*
