  • Importance of bank statement while sponsering parents on visitor visa

    Hi,

I started working in the USA since june 2010 and now I have invited my parents for a short trip and their interview is scheduled for next week. I am sponsering their trip.

As I have been reading in the forums that one should show $5000 per person while sponsering. And since I had only $7000 in my bank account, I borrowed some money from a fnd just 10 days ago and made my current balance look like $22 K. I got bank reference letter with current balance, date on which I opened an account and the avg balance for past 6 months.

    My questions here are:

    1. Do I need to send the bank statements also which clearly shows that I have bumped up my bank balace by $15K?
    2. Will bank reference letter be sufficient in this case?
    3. Will there be any chances of visa rejection for my parents if my bank stmts are not sent?
    4. If sent, will that affect in anyway my parents getting visa?
    5. Now that I have increased my bank balance recently, I am able to download the stmt only in the notepad format. Will that work?

Please someone help me with the answers ASAP.

    Thanks in advance

Artificially manipulating the bank balanace does not work as you don't really have that money. And the consular officer knows that very well and can easily find out.

They want to know that you really have that money and that is why they want to see the bank statements and not just one letter.

So what could be the best thing to do now?

Shall I ask my parents not to produce my bank statements in the interview? Please advice
