Hi,
My parents and my younger brother (age, 18, commercial arts student) visa got rejected today. They are planning to come for my graduation ceremony in May. A visa officer did not even check any of their documents. I am sponsoring their visa and they had all the required documents. The visa officer asked them just a few questions (listed below). Their interview was scheduled at Mumbai consulate and was in Marathi.
Questions:
Why are you going to US?
Ans: Daughter's graduation ceremony, dad even mentioned that he has invitation letters for all of them from my school.
What does your daughter do and what is her degree in?
Ans: She is currently working as a biomedical Engg and she did her PhD in Electrical and Computer Engg
To my dad, what do you do? and asked the same question to my mom and brother
Ans: they answered accordingly, my dad is a retired government employee, my mom is currently working and my brother goes to college.
To my mom, What is your salary? (My mom also mentioned that this trip is sponsored by my me)
To my brother, What is your age?
Thats it. the officer said that she can not grant them visa and she gave them 214(b) letter.
I am planning to take their appointment again after 2 weeks, and this time only for my parents. I am suspecting that because my brother is so young she rejected all of their visas. However, he or my parents have no intention to stay here permanently.. they want to come just for my graduation.
I am not sure what is going to happen this time and what my parents should tell the officer if he asks why my brother is not applying this time.
It would be really helpful if anyone shares his/her experience or give me some tips.
Thank you!
