Who should sponsor

Both me and my wife are working and are on AOS status.
My wife wants to invite her parents to visit us. Who should sponsor the trip. Can I sponsor since my annual income is more than my wife?

In a thread in this forum, I saw that the parent's were asked why did the daughter not sponsor and why did the son-in-law sponsor.

What would be the right answer for this if I sponsor for my in-laws and if my in-laws are asked the same question.
