  • Interview at the consulate

    HI

My Parents are going for their visa next week.

Could someone write a brief note on how the procedure[start - End] exactly is...
    with info like

what they do at the gate
what documents they take from the applicants prior to interview
Where they give the application forms
where they give the affidavit .....etc.

The information given at the immihelp website is useful, but what would be more useful is a full detailed explanation of someone who had a recent experience.

    Thanks

I've not attended an interview lately..so I will not opt on explaining part.

But...one imp thing is...tht when my mom went to attend the interview in feb....on tht particular day..there were no application forms available at the consulate. I believe they ran out of the stock !! Unbelievable but true. This was Feb 3rd 2005. So..I wud say...fill out a form online for ur parents...and send it out ahead..so tht they can carry a prinout of it along with them right ahead.

        Here is the steps...

        Hi bkarthik,

Last month my parents got their visa. Here is some of the tips...

        1. Ask them to show up to embassy before 30-40 mts.
        2. They call in group who falls in range from 9.00 AM - 9.30 AM.
        3. Both need to show the appointment receipt and passport. They do the name check before they allow inside.
        4. During step 3 at gate they do the metal detector checking to make sure that they don't carry any thing that is not allowed.
        5. Once they get through the gate at the Right Hand side there will be TTS counter. They need to pay the TTS fees (Here just fees no documents) and ask them to make sure they get the receipt for the TTS service they paid.
        6. Once it is done, on their left hand side there will be 4 counters. In all the counters they accept all the documents and all the details what ever your parents provide. During this step, ask your parents to stay in line and wait for their call and not to rush.
        7. Once 6 step is done, counter guy collects all documents and will give them a token to keep. Once they get the token they need to proceed to upstairs.
        8. In upstairs they need to seated until their turn called.
        9. Usually they will be calling in range of numbers like 1-10 / 200-210 like that.
        10. Once they see there number, ask them to follow the line.
        11. Before they get to the consular there will be a yellow line. They should not cross the yellow line until they called by consular.
        12. Once they get to consular need to answer all questions.
        13. Once everything is done successfully, consular will ask them to pay the visa fees in the next counter.
        14. If they pay the fees on the same day it means visa approved.

        Have a good luck
        Karthik
