Hi All,
I am sponsoring my parents tourist visa for my graduation ceremony (May 7, 2011). We applied first time on March 4, 2011, second interview was on March 15, 2011. They were rejected twice but I am planning to apply again around April 15-April 20. Please give me some advice. I am worried if I am spoiling their chance to come here in future if the visa gets rejected third time. Below is the brief overview of their interviews.
1st Interview:
My Dad (retired government employee), Mom (currently working, government employee), and my younger brother (studying commercial arts, he is 18years old) went together for the interview. Interview was in Marathi at a Mumbai consulate.
1. Why are you going to US?
to attend my daughter's graduation ceremony.
2. Where does she live?
Philadelphia, PA.
3. What does she do? and where does she work?
as a biomedical engineer and they told my company name
4. What does my dad do? then she asked the same question to my mom and brother.
5. They asked my parents income.
After these questions visa was rejected under 214b. They did not check any of the documents.
2nd Interview:
This time only my parents went for the interview, my brother did not go.
Unfortunately, my parents happened to go to the same officer as last time. She said that she will not be conducting their interview as she already had rejected their visa and she sent them to other officer. I also gave my dad a letter to present it to the officer explaining why their strong ties in India and that they are coming here just for my graduation.
1. Why are you going to USA?
My daughter's PhD graduation.
2. What does my dad do? same question to my mom.
they told the same ans as before but this time my mom mentioned she has to come back to resume her work as she has only two months of leave from her office.
When he asked income, my parents mentioned their income but they also said that my daughter will be sponsoring our trip.
3. How many kids? and what do they do?
three kids, daughter working in usa and two sons in India, one is studying and other one is working, he is married and is expecting his first child soon so we have to come back to attend our first grandchild's birth. Both my sons live with me.
Apart from above ansers, this time my parents tried showing him some documents, such as the letter I sent, an invitation letter from my school for the graduation ceremony. However, he did not look at any of the documents.
PLEASE ADVICE IF I SHOULD TAKE THEIR INTERVIEW DATE AFTER ONE MONTH FROM THEIR SECOND REJECTION. I am trying to get them here for my graduation.
