My friends mom and dad went to calcutta consulate for interview though they fall under chennai jurisdiction. they knew fluent engligh, never got visa rejected earlier and also had a genuine reason to show as travel. but calcutta consulate did not even see their paperwork nor asked them any questions. they took the visa fee and stamped the passport as Application Received. No rejection notice was given as such.
What does this mean. Can someone clarify please.
TTS visas is making a fool of all people by saying that people from south can apply in Calcutta - which is not true even if you have good reasons to prove this.
believe me all this is a money making scam. my friend is worried and depressed. i thought i would seek advice here and help him.

Can they go to Chennai for a visa without appointment or will they need to call TTS in Chennai and find out. Please help.

People who fall under chennai consulate must apply only in chennai...unless they have an emergency reason for visa approval/travel. Ur frnd's parents case looks like a normal visitors visa case....as in for tourism purpose. Students who have to be here on particular dates - but r unable to find the apptmt slot in chennai, ppl visiting for health emergencies...n so on...business trips/company conferences tht cannot wait....etc., these are examples of some of those that are allowed/encouraged to apply in other consulates, than the one applicable originally.

When they stamp application recieved...u can apply back as many times as u can. But I wud only apply in chennai....if I were ur frnd...becoz it is the right thing to do....if u fall into the south zone, keeping in mind the fact tht the trip is a casual trip.

'Application Received' actually means visa rejected.
