will going to Canada and coming back extend my Mom's US visit visa

Hi,

My mom is on a visit visa here in the US.Her visa is a 10 yr multiple entry visa but per visit she can stay only for 6 months.Her 6 month period for her current stay will get over in the first week of june.I wanted to extend her stay.Is there a way I can do that?Applying through USCIS takes for ever.
I was thinking if she visits Canada for a week and comes back to US, will they give her a new I-94 with a new date on it?That might extend her stay?Please advice asap

That doesn't work. CBP officers are aware of this trick.
It is better if she leaves after her allotted time, so that the next time (after a year or so) she will have no problems in returning and staying for another 6 months. Think long term.
