  • Parents got B1/B2 visitor visa in Mumbai

    Hi,
just wanted to share my parent's visa interview experience with others. First of all many thanks to immihelp.com for having all the information needed to prepare for the visa documentation and interview. I had opted for a Hindi interview for them, here is the process:
    1. VO: GOOD MORNING
    Father: good morning Sir.
    2. VO: Why are you going to USA?
    Father: Sir Hindi please.
VO looked at the docs and realized they opted for hindi interview, gets an interpreter who translates conversation between the VO and my father:
    2. VO: Why are you going to USA?
Father: to stay and spend time with my son and daughter in law and also visit some of the tourism places in the USA like niagra falls, washington dc, new york etc.
    3. VO: show me a letter of proof for your Son's residence?
Father: handed over my bank verification letter which had my address.
4.VO: where does you Son live?
    Father: stated my city, state.
5.VO: What do you do in India?
Father: I run a textile business in xyz city.
    6. VO: Your visa is approved, you will get your passport by courier.
    Father: Thank you sir.

No questions were asked to my mother.

Parents visa approved but for Father need new passport with Yellow slip

Just to add to the above threads,

My aprents went for the visa itnerview at Mumbai Consulate. Surprisingly they didn't verify any documents sent by me. However they asked lot of information to my parents and consulate expect parents to know basic information about their child.
Where is your child stay ?
Where is your child work ?
why he didn't visit India in past 3 years ( in my case...exceptional)?
      Whats his salary.

Also consular ask background information to parents, such as :
      what they do ?
Birth date and place of birth ?
      Their Mother's and Father's name
What is your income ? consular asked to my father.

Finally they grant visa to my mother and gave yellow slip to my father to submit the slip with old and New passport.
Father has to get New passport as Consular told its not in good condition.

One of the reason may be his passport is going to be expired in 2013 and just to be inline with Visa validity which will be for 10 years, its better to have new passport with same validity period.

      hope this will help

        hi psachin78

Mine is almost the same case as yours but the 221g my dad got is with pending admin processing. My parents had gone to mumbai consulate for visitor visa interview. My mom got the visa but my dad got a yellow 221g with pending administrative processing section checked. It also says that check here for updates with the CEAC barcode(Visa application code)

My dad was also given his passport back with the yellow 221g. The VO did not refuse the visa but said its pending and it is a required step from their side. Once we see our CEAC barcode in the updated list on the website above, we are asked to submit the passport, 221g along with the envelope.

          Pending Application Procedure

here are the text from VFS website for **** Pending Application Procedure **** *

Visa processing is kept on hold / pending status for various reasons, such as administrative processing, requirement of additional documents, medical tests, insufficient validity of passport, etc. If your visa processing has been kept on hold / pending status due to any of the above reasons, the Consular officer will issue you a pending letter also known as 221g letter listing the reason for the same.

U.S. Embassy and other Consulates use specific colour coding to indicate the type of 221g and based on the colour coding of the letter issued to the applicant different set of instructions are provided to be followed by the applicants for further processing of visa application.

On receipt of the 221g letter at the time of interview at U.S. Embassy or any of the U.S. Consulates in India applicant can submit their required documents and passport at any of the VFS U.S. Visa Application Centers by paying a service charge of Rs.180/- inclusive of service tax @10% and education cess @0.30% per applicant.

The financial independence and the tendency to return asap are two main things which is looked into during interview for visa.
