B1/B2 returning after 9 years

What are the consequences of some body staying over illegally for more than 9 years on a B1/B2 visa and returning back to India. Does the person face any legal hardship at the U.S. airport at the time of departure? Would the person be questioned, fingerprinted and/or searched etc. In this case, it is a lady of 64 years of age, if the age matters.

Someone with experience, please enlighten.
