  • visitor visa (B2) and passport corrections

    Hi,

I am working in U.S on L1 Visa for past 2.5 years. I plan to call my parents this month (or as soon as possible) as they recently got their passports.

I noticed some mistakes/mismatches in their passports with mine. Can you please suggest me if I need to get them corrected before applying for visa?

    1) My Father/Mother's name in their passport doesn't match exactly with those in my passport.

My passport (There is no surname):

    Father's name: ramojirao
    Mother's name: venkata lakshmi

    My Father's passport:
    Surname: jalla
    Given name: ramoji rao

    My Mother's passport:
    Surname: jalla
    Given name: lakshmi

Note that there is a space mismatch in father's name and first name is different from what is in my passport.

    2) My father's passport has a mistake where his father/mother names are printed as one i.e., they used my grand mother's name in both places. It sounds silly but this is the case.

Can any of you suggest if the above mistakes need to be absolutely corrected before going to visa? Do they match the names with those in my passport? What are the chances of rejection if they go without correcting these?

    Thanks a lot.

First all of you need to decide what everyone's correct name really is and then get everyone else' passports/documents changed accordingly.
