  • Visitor Visa I-134 question

    Hello,
I am sponsoring visitor visa for my father, mother and brother.(all applying together as a family). I have two question regarding that.

    1) I read on immihelp that I have to fill one I-134 for each person I am sponsoring the visa for. In that case, if I fill one I-134 for each of them. Now, in the I-134, the question 3 asks the there is a section that asks the name of person for whom the affidavit is being prepared followed by name and age of spouse and children accompnying the person . I prepared first I-134 for my father and wrote my mother's and brother's name in that section.

The second one, I prepared for my mother and wrote my father's and brother's name in that section. The third one, I wrote my brother's name and none in the section of spouse and children accompnying.. Is that the right way or can I just send one affidavit with my father's name as primary and my mother's and brother's name in accompnying list?

    Please reply..Urgent!!!
    Thanks

    Anybody with experience, please clarify!

I'm not sure where, but I remember reading that for parents appearing together only one I-134 is required. After above post, I rechecked and immihelp does says that "One form should be filled for each applicant. So, even though parents are applying together, you need to send two forms".

I'm now kind of confused as the form itself allows you to enter information about the spouse and child of the main person for whom you are preparing the form.

    Immihelp: Please advise!

Immihelp, can you please write a line or two as why two affidavits are required in case of parents applying and travelling together when the form allows for two persons to be mentioned.

Also in my case I'd already send in one I-134 for my parents. I will now send another one for my mother like mentioned in your site. On the second I-134 should I mention the date (was end of Mar) of the prev I-134 that I'd send.

          ImmiHelp Please Reply

          Hello,
As you mentioned, that I would need 3 affidavits, one for father in which accompnying will be mother, second for mother accompnying will be father and third for my brother. However, since it asks for accompnying spouse and children and my brother is only 15 years old, can I send as follows:
          1) First Affidavit ( Father, accompnying are mother and brother)
          2) Second Affidavit ( Monther, accompnying are father and brother)
          3) Third Affidavit ( Brother).

I already got the above notorized ...Please let me know if the above is ok or I will have to get them made again.

          Thanks

jainr9: If brother is only 15 years old, what you did is right.

manishc: Many times, they make separate files for each person at each of the process. Therefore, it is necessary and helpful to have separate I-134 for each person.
In past I-134 form was used also for family based immigration, but now I-864 is used for that purpose and government hasn't changed I-134 and therefore, some of the things are weird.
You can mention about the dates of previous I-134. Again, that question was relevant for family based immigration to determine the affordability of the person based on poverty lines and how many persons he is sponsoring for immigrants. Not too much relevant for sponsoring visitors but have to still answer as it is there.

              Thanks for the explanation!

Based on above explanation, is it required then to submit two sets of the other (following) sponsor documents as well?

              2. Passport copy
              3. Employment Certificate

              6. Letter to US consulate
              7. Personal letter of invitation
              8. Copy of recent pay stubs

One copy of those documents is sufficient.

I have a similar case where I am sponsoring my Mother, Uncle and Aunt. I got one I-134 for My mother and one for my Uncle and Aunt together (please let me know if I need to provide it in separate copies for Uncle and Aunt) Also all 3 will go for visa interview together so is it required to provide the name of other two people in the question 9 '..previously submitted affidevit of support for the following person. If none then state NONE.

please let me know what should i do in this case.
