I'm in US on H1-B. Can I get B2 for my wife?
Hi,
I am on H1-B (got from Chennai consulate). I intend to stay in US for about 6-7 months more. If I apply for H4 for my wife, I'll have to apply from Chennai consulate which means she won't be able to come here for atleast 5 months more (because of the huge lead times).
Can I apply for a B2 for my wife? I can do that through Calcutta since I am a resident of Ranchi. There the lead time is less for appointment. Is this a feasible option?
Will they reject it because she is going for B2 instead of H4? (She's not employed and ideally should have applied for a dependent visa).
Please suggest. This is urgent!
