Bank Statement Originial or Photocopy

Hi,

For my parents US visitor visa, since I'm sponsoring their visit, I have gotten the account verification letter from the bank. But, for the bank statements, do I need to send Originial bank statements or can I send them a photocopy?

Could you please let me know.

I downloaded the pdf statements through online banking and sent it as a mail attachment to my parents. For transactions after the statement date, i downloaded the transactions and converted them to pdf before sending.

Copies must be acceptable too but i will let the superguru's here to comment on that.

With everything going online now a days, many people not even getting the paper statements in the postal mail anymore, I understand that download bank statements should be acceptable.

The difference between the "original" and the "copy" has been going away steadily.

And consular officers all that.

However, whenever "original" documents are available, it is preferable to send them to help avoid any possibility of suspiscion of fraud, alterations or manipulations.
