  • old passport details in appointment letter

    Hi all,
My mom has a passport that expires in FEb2006 and I took an appointment with that passport details . Now she got her passport renewed.
1)Should I fill the new issuance date and expiry date in DS-156 form?
2)Will it matter if the details of the old pasport in the appointment letter and the details of the new passport in the DS-156 form are different?
3)Should she carry both her passports to the consulate with some kinda covering letter stating the change?

Please help asap as the appointment date is 2 weeks away

    Thanks in advance

    hi

    yes
better she carry both passports with her. you can fill in the same details like what you did in the receipt number. there is no problem at all. this is a very common thing and the consulate knows about it, dont worry.
    all the best

      Srikar,
I am sorry to ask you the same thing again. I did not quite understand some of it. Mainly the 3rd question about the cover letter. Please can you answer to 'dmana' 3 questions separately.I might be in this situation too pretty soon.

      thanks!

        priyam,
I think from what I understand is that

1)Should I fill the new issuance date and expiry date in DS-156 form?
        A) The dates have to be the same as they were in the appointment letter.

2)Will it matter if the details of the old pasport in the appointment letter and the details of the new passport in the DS-156 form are different?
        A) It doesnt matter

        3) Should she carry both her passports to the consulate with some kinda covering letter stating the change?
A)Carry both passports but no need for any letter.

Just take both the passports and explain at the consulate regarding the new one.

Srikar, could you just confirm with a YES or a NO to the above answers. I just wanna be sure of it .

Thanks a lot for the prompt reply!
