I am Filipino girl in early 20's, living for 9 months in Canada with permanent resident status, but not citizen yet. I wish to make short 2-5 day tourist trips with my American boyfriend to certain interesting cities in the US. I have very strong ties to Canada and MUST return after the short trips. I have a valuable job and am the sole support for my 2 year-old son, my parents and my sisters and brothers who are all living together in an apartment that I pay for. I cannot remain in the US or I would be abandoning my son and my entire family. Even though this is all true, I am very afraid that I will have bad luck and get a consular officer that will think I am going to remain with my American boyfriend in the US, despite all of my documentation and testimony to the contrary.
I have had some people tell me to not mention my boyfriend and just say I am going to tour with friends, and others have told me to tell the whole truth and not to hide anything and just hope for a good, and reasonable consular officer who will make a fair and just decision.
The only reason I would even consider not mentioning my boyfriend and telling the truth is because I have heard horror stories of others who think that factor was what caused their application for B2 visa to be be denied.
What should I do? I plan to travel to my interview soon.
