Usmle Step 2CS visa without writing previous steps

Hi,

My Visa interview scheduled for next week. My problem is

1) I haven't appeared for any steps yet ( my step 1 exam is 2 weeks after the interview )

2) My wife is already there in the US ( green card Holder ).

Will these two issues be held against me when I appear for my Visa.

Has anyone been in this kind of situation before??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Issue (2) is probably the one that will work the most against you - when you apply for a nonimmigrant visa, you should demonstrate, at the VO satisfaction, your intention to return to your home country after a limited stay.

Being as it is your wife is a GC holder, that works against you - it becomes then harder to demonstrate you do NOT intend to stay illegally.

I got my Visa..!!! The interview was very straight forward. The VO did not ask for any supporting documents. She frowned when I said my wife is a green card holder, but in the end she said "your visa is approved" . It was a great relief..!!

What did you mention in the 'duration of stay in US' in the DS 160 form? I an in the processof applying for the visa too. Please respond. Thanks!
