Visa Approved BUT

hello my fellows friends
i am new on this forum and i am hoping someone in here got an idea or an answer for my inquiry ....my parents went to the us consulate for a tourist visa interview and the officer said after several Q and A that the visa was granted..he asked my mother to come back next week to get the visa and they kept her passport and regarding my father they are gonna call him in his cell phone once the NORMAL PROCEDURE is over ..he gave him his passport and said you can hold on to it now in case you wanna use it
any information or ideas would be appreciated

They may be doing some administrative processing. It will take anywhere from 2 weeks to 2-3 months. There is unfortunately no way to check the progress and nothing can be done but to wait.

when you say administrative processing is that like background check or criminal history or they are just short handed in staff ...do you have any possible explanation why they would pick my father and not my mother ?
