Appointment date change - Question

My parents have got a visa interview date of July 12th in Mumbai, they sent all the documents and got their visa interview date confirmation in an email.

But now if they can find an earlier date for appointment then

1. could they cancel the original one and apply for a newer date?
2. Do they need to resend the documents? Or will their interview date be automatically changed from July 12th to the new date?
