  • B1/B2 Visa inquiry/verification

I have a multiple entry B1/B2 visa sponsored by my previous company and used it when I have a training but the immigration console accidentally stamp it B-2 entry.
Now that I'm already resigned on my previous company can I used my visa to visit my relatives in US?

    thanks

Let's go back a step. A B1/B2 visa is not tied (unlike H1, L1) to an employer. Provided your visa is (a) unexpired, (b) valid for multiple entries, (c) w/o any Annotation that would preclude you from using it, you should be good to go to use it to travel to the US and *request admission* at the POE.

You have to understand that a visa (ANY visa - B1/B2, L1, H1, F1, Kx, Rx) is just a document that, within its validity, allows you to board a vessel/airplane/other, and, at POE, request admission into the US by the CBP officer.

Which means - yes, it is completely within the realm of possible that you may get in front of the CBP officer and being denied entry to the US.

In those cases, the visa is usually revoked "on the spot" and you're sent back to your country on the next available plane.

You say you plan to use the visa to visit relatives. The officer @ POE will probably ask you about expected length of stay, you will be paying for your expenses, if you work or not, etc. Being single, w/o a job, and telling the officer "I'm here to visit relatives" sounds to me like a recipe to be sent back. But, as usual, YMMV.

Do you have plans to get married and have four kids between now and your visit to the US? Congratulations !

Or do you just plan to lie to the CBP officer? Bad idea - they're trained to see through those lies . . .

The bottom line is: you have a valid visa. You can travel to the US. The CBP officer will ask you for your reasons to coming to the US, your plans, how do you plan to pay for it all, etc. And then it will make a decision on if you should be allowed or not into the country.
