Mom got Visitor's visa approved!
First I would like to thank Immihelp for the exhaustive information that is available in the site. Also thanks to all the members who shares their experience so that all users can get benefitted. Here are my 2 cents from my Mom's personal appearance experience.
Background:
- My mom is a retired teacher & a pensioner.
- Iam her only child & married
- My wife is working & planning to apply for her dependant visa after my mom's PAI.
- Iam travelling to US for a year long assignment on L1B next month end.
- This is my third trip to US on L1 & travelled alone during my earlier trips.
- My dad passed away couple of years back.
- We stay in our own apartment
Consulate & DS 160:
- Chennai, 23rd Sept 2011.
- Language of interview - Tamil (My mom speaks english well but still we opted for Tamil as she would be more fluent in Tamil)
- Sponsorship - Self Sponsor (She has her personal savings account & pension account)
- We have no relatives in US
- Gave my friend's info as Point of contact in US
- Mentioned that we will put up in a hotel on arrival at US
Questions:
Mom: Good Afternoon Madam
Cons: Good afternoon. Do you have any relatives in US?
Mom: No, My son is travelling officially next month and I want to accopmany him.
Cons: How many children you have?
Mom: Only one.
Cons: Were you working earlier?
Mom: Yes, Iam a retired tamil teacher & getting my pension now.
Cons: How long will you stay in US?
Mom: 4 months.
Cons: Are you staying in your own house?
Mom: Yes.
Cons: You will get your Visa & passport at your home address in 2-3 days. Thank you.
Mom: Thanks you.
Mom had pension record, bank passbooks, my passport & petition copies, property docs, a couple of family photos in case they asked for reference. They didnt ask for any docs! Waiting to receive the passport.
