  • Parents Visiting - No property - help

    Hello,

I wish to bring my parents to the US for a vacation. I did read through a lot of posts and stickys. Most of the people asking questions have comfortable situations. Mine is a bit different. Though both of my parents are highly educated and are from very well off families, sadly, for the past lot of years none of them has a bank balance (at all !!) and have no property whatsoever. Whatever was there was sold a decade ago. Dad has been into various streams of work and business and will not be able to produce any proof of income as such.

As of now I am at a double cross road

First, I dont know which visa to file them under :
I have selected B2 (Tourism/medical treatment), however, I feel Business/Personal (B1/b2) seems to be a better fit. I did speak to my company's immigration team and they think what I select is good. Also, it will be better for them to sponsor themselves as tourists rather than me sponsoring them. But then, they don't have money in the banks and all. Could someone please suggest something

Second part of my questions pertaining to DS160 are :
1)Father employed ? I answer no. Then it asks if was employed before. Now my dad wouldn't be able to produce a Form 16 or payslips or bank account statements which show the same. What should be answered here ?
    2) Education : Both of them are PGs. But Dad has no certificates, whatsoever, to prove the same. What could I answer here ? Though with the English he speaks, it is difficult to think he is not educated

    cheers,
    HB

If he has been working and has/had business, why he has no proof of income? Is everything black money? If he has no bank balanace or income, how is from well off family? If he is well educated, why does he have no proof of that?

If the person has no bank balance or income, there is no way they can show that they will be able to take care of their own expenses. Therefore, there is no way he can self-sponsor.

Unless he is already of retirement age and can show he was working prior, that is not going to work either.

In any case, I believe it would be very difficult for him to get U.S. visa.
