  • Visitor Visa for brother

    Hello all,

Myself and my wife are in US on H1B. We have been in several visas before and have always gone back to India well before the Visa expired.

Now I am planning to get my elder bro(age 30+) for a visit to USA.

What are the chances of getting his visa approved.
My father passed away last month.

Will it help if my mom accompanies him? Which visa will have a better chance of approval Visitor / tourist?

Thanks in advance for your help.

if he is married his chnaces increase two folds otherwise if he is single and unemployed it is almost impossible to get a visa. Even though he is single it will strengthen his case if he shows some sort of work employment he is engaged in, some sort of binding commitment back home will help his case a lot. Also, showing mother staying back in India is another strong home tie. I personally think it is much better if he applies on his own. Remember any proof that can show that he will depart after a temporray stay will go in his favor. So start working on that aspect , too. In the end, it is all luck.

Thanks a lot for your reply.

So if my bro applies on his own, should he say he wants to visit me? Will they ask why he wants to visit USA that too in winter?

What is the procedure to apply on his own from India?
      What docs would he need?

      Thanks.
