  • B2 after H1B stamping refusal

    Hi,

I have been in US last 4 years (2 yrs F1, 1 yr OPT, 1 yr H1B). I visited India regularly every year for at least a month.
I had my H1B stamping interview in July and received 221(g) with request for additional documents. My visa stamping was refused mid-Sep, and I received the rejection letter early October.
I found a new job here. My family would like me to stay here now.
My best friend in US is getting married in December and is inviting me to attend her wedding. I would love to go as we had been planning it for a long time. Can I get a B2 visa to attend her wedding now? What is the likely hood that my B2 visa will be granted?
Please advice on how I can go about it. Thanks!

      Thanks immihelp for your response.

Any advice regarding how I should go about the process, what documents I should prepare for, etc.

Also, when filling out DS160, there's a question about immediate relative in USA. My sister just went to US for a 3 month urgent assignment (this is on a H1B visa through her Indian based IT company). Her husband lives here, and she will be coming back on Jan 2nd. As I will be interviewing around early December, is it appropriate to mention her name on DS 160, as an immediate relative in USA? She is there temporarily and will be back shortly.

Please advice. Thanks so much for all your help! Much appreciated!!
