I think I did mistake in their occupation in DS160. I have to write "Retired" instead of "other". I thought if I will write Retired then chances of rejection is more. I wrote other and in description Pensioner and Investor. That's he asked my mother are you house wife? because in this age no Indian women is doing such work. Also he gave us hint that Pensioner and Investor is not occupation, you have to write retired and say house wife.

As my point of view I am right, because presently they are getting pension and invest their money in different place like FD, Post etc but as VO point of view they are retired.

Anyways I tried my best to help others.

    Good Luck.

From the consular perspective, your parents are being "oversmart".

They need to mention correctly as retired/house wife etc. as applicable.

What we have to write in DS160? if you are Retired and then invest your money and earn income?

If I write Retired then VO think that... "You are working and earning money... investing money is also a occupation.... You have not mention it in DS160..." You are lying...

If I write Other then VO think that... "No you are retired..." You are lying...

      So confuse...

Having money in savings account, fixed deposit and earning interest on that is not the same as the occupation of "Investor" that you wrote.
