  • Mom visiting for Daughter-in-law's graduation.

    Hi,
I am filling out the form DS - 160 for my Mom, I am planning to send her to the visa interview with the letter stating that she wants to attend the graduation ceremony of my wife.
However, while filling out the form it did not ask anywhere the reason for your visit also there are two places where i stumbled upon.
First thing is where it asks to list any Point of Contact in USA -- Do I list mine or my wife's information here.
Second thing is there is a place where we are asked to list family information -- I listed my name in here but did not understand was that correct.

    Brief Background:
About me: I am currently on my H-1 B Visa (got it recently approved but did not go for stamping yet)

My Wife: She finished her masters recently and is planning take her walk in May 2012.

My Mom: She is a widow, but who gets monthly pension and also we have many properties on her name.

The reason i am planning for her to go to visa interview now is because i heard that visas for graduation ceremonies are given more freely than in other cases.

I hope someone replies as i am stuck with the form and not understanding what or how to fill it.

Put your name as the point of contact. Also family information put your details. When she go for interview if they ask why she is going tell the genuine reason ... gradutation of daughter in law and visiting US. If her graduation ceremony is in May 2012 better apply in March mid or April 2012. Some one in the forum mentioned their B1 rejected as they told their plan to visit US is after 4-5 months and visa office told to apply 1-2 months before. Its your wish I just told.
