DS 156 & Bar code

How does DS 156 with a barcode make a difference with the one without barcode. or what advantage does it have over the one without bar code

Other than that it speeds up processing for the visa officer, the bar code doesn't makes a difference to the applicant itself. Though it'd be preferred to be able to submit DS-156 with bar code, you really can submit any type of application and it will be fine without any problems.

In any case it would be preferred to avoid completing the DS-156 in handwritten in order to avoid mistakes while VO is trying to read the often not so clear handwriting.
